Mr. President,
After a tough fight, you were elected again as the President of the United States. Many admirers admire your determination and courage.
In a sense, serving as President of the United States is equivalent to serving as President of the entire globe.
I hope your re-election will bring peace to the whole world.
Mr. President,
With this letter, I am writing to call your attention to the persecution of Kurds.
Kurds have been known since the Sumerian civilization. We founded civilizations with the Sumerians. The Kurds founded Media Kingdom, the first empire founded by Indo-Europeans. Kurdish aristocracy later founded other states and empires.
Since the Sumerian times, Kurds have been the only nation in the Middle East that still carry the same name. Our motherland has been a target for attacks and divisions. After the First World War, Kurdistan was divided into four states (Turkey, Iran, Iraq, and Syria) following an international decision. We did not even obtain minority status, and we were deprived of our fundamental human rights. States that divided Kurdistan carried out ruthless physical and cultural genocide against Kurds. Even now, this situation of atrocities persists. Despite this, Kurds have managed to preserve their ancient geography’s demographic and cultural unity.
Mr. President,
The largest genocide against Kurds is being launched by Turkey, a NATO member and candidate EU member. Turkey is not just forcibly Turkifying the Kurds living under its rule while also intervening in the fate of Kurds living under the rule of the other three states.
The Kurds were granted a federal status in Iraq, which was destroyed as the result of the first and second Gulf Wars (1991 and 2003) and re-established in 2005. Turkey, which made the maximum effort to prevent this, failed to do so and occupied one-third of the territory of Southern Kurdistan, taking refuge behind the excuse of PKK. Now, it is the turn of the southwestern region of Kurdistan (Rojava), which is under the rule of the Syrian State, which was destroyed by Turkey and terrorist organizations in its service a few days ago. Turkey, with its official army and unofficial armies and terrorist organizations, has started an intensive activity in this region of Kurdistan to destroy the de facto Kurdish autonomous region and to carry out ethnic cleansing. If this is not prevented, perhaps when you take over your sacred duty, humanity will witness a new Kurdish genocide. The only power to prevent this in the name of humanity is America, and you are the one who represents it. This is what we urgently expect from you as the Kurdish nation.
Mr. President.
The United States of America protected us from the tyranny of Dictator Saddam Hussein and later. Again, with America’s support, we gained federal status in the post-dictator Iraq. The war of annihilation that ISIS launched against Kurds in Iraq and Syria in 2014, with Turkey’s support, was ended thanks to the support of the coalition established under America’s leadership. Turkey has now once again launched a new war of annihilation against Rojava Kurdistan through its official army and unofficial Turkish army under the name of the Syrian National Army by bringing together terrorist organizations affiliated with al-Qaeda and ISIS.
If this is not prevented, Rojava Kurdistan will be subjected to a new ethnic cleansing by Ankara. The only power that can prevent this is America under your leadership.
